Editing is frustratingly slow sometimes. An hour to get one paragraph right. And it is statistically probable I'll end up deleting it at some point in a future edit. I just keep reminding myself that this is why more people don't write books.

Sometimes I just like to look at my bookshelf.

I know I should be editing but a friend got me my very first fountain pen and I'm busy playing with it.

You can tell I recommend a particular @sgj.bsky.social book a lot because when I type 'My' the keyboard automatically suggests 'Heart' then > Is > A > Chainsaw.

It's so tiresome to do, but there is no substitute for reading your draft out loud while you edit.

How long shall I be patient?

Sometimes I hate editing. Progress has been slow the last couple of weeks. But at least there is progress.

B&N May be a big box store, but never underestimate the influence of the book sellers that work there. My wife makes sure our favorite local indie authors are well represented. Can you spot the four @cheriepriest.com books at the Issaquah store?

Another lap around the sun. I put this print by Caravaggio, in my office. The painting depicts Jerome as a life long scholar with a skull to remind us of our mortality. For all its flaws, I've sought to constantly better my mind and as long as God blesses me to be in this rock, I intend to continue.

This is a great series. This is up next in my TBR.

I own at least a dozen of Cherie's books and love every one of them and will be buying this one. It baffles me that she is not more popular. This post is heartbreaking but not uncommon. So few authors can make a living just in their books.

Writing the first draft of my current WIP was measured in words written, the editing is measured in words deleted. All ebbs and flows.

I'm rather proud of myself. I had to jump on Facebook and I saw someone's political hot take. I started to comment pointing out their logical fallacy but then stopped and deleted my comment before replying. I then closed Facebook and walked away happier than if I didn't engage.

I was doing some research on the uses of obsidian throughout history and learned that polished obsidian used to be used as mirrors. But various religions have used obsidian mirrors as scrying mirrors to see the future. This is where the show The Black Mirror gets its name from.

Sleeper Beach is not available in the US, but my UK version showed up today. @harkaway.bsky.social has never written a sequel* until now. I'm thrilled he decided to continue expanding the world of Titanium Noir and can't wait to read this.
