Got home late last nighy, unloaded luggage/gear from my car and immediately put all my tool bags in. Now it’s 630am and I’m right back into work mode.

First bit of warm weather and sunshine and all of sudden I’m spending time in the basement working on my drone set for Roadburn.

The band I play drums in has a show exactly one week from today and my kit is still just piled up in my basement in the spot I brought it in after our last show around thanksgiving.

I’ll admit my mood lately is that I just want to cancel everything. I’m glad I went through with the set last night though felt good to just kinda pull something out of the air and make it work

I’m doing a hybrid quiet/drone set tonight. I haven’t practiced at all besides thumbing at my acoustic on the couch. Old stuff. This morning I decided to set up this semi-hollow that has only had 5 strings on it for a few years now to use tonight too.

We have near the enture library of recorded music at our fingertips but I’m still pretty old school and won’t listen to something until I find a physical copy. Well nearly 30 years after hearing about it I’m finally listening to that Rob Halford nu-metal project….

Just gotta say my very Hispanic wife is so fucking excited for the Benito Bowl. I got the subwoofer set up for the tv just for half time.

Sweeping out the garage this morning before loading my gear for the show tonight and thought about how from late 2014 through 2017 there were times it looked like I had a hazer on stage but it was just my speakers pushing the coal dust off the cabs.

My only real goal this year was to play more shows than my personal best year which was 52 shows in 2014. Last night I tied it, which I’m gonna consider a win because 2014 was over an entire calendar year. I did this in just 6 months while also working the most amount of overtime I ever have before.

A counter point to yesterdays feeling that music stuck to me more when I was younger, is that I love listening to an album I just kinda liked enough when I was younger but listening now with years of experience behind me it just hits so much harder. Today for me that was Pulp’s This Is Hardcore.

Listened to Transatlanticism on my way to work this morning and made me think that most albums I personally believe are 10/10 or damn near perfect all came out before or around when I was 26. So I’m gonna spend my Christmas break making a list and seeing if my theory is correct.

This answer often changes more times than not I’ll say my favorite Low record is The Great Destroyer, now is one of those times.

My set up for pfb is so barebones tonight, 2 amps, one guitar and like 4 pedals, yet my car is packed because I’m playing with my other band too, had a drum kit, synths, powered pa speaker for a monitor etc

Watching the rock hall ceremony and losing my mind when Salt N Peppa’s producer did the “all the fly ladies” call out cuz years ago on tour Karla and I listened to a SNP remix cd over and over and that call out has become and inside joke for us. Plus the music fucking slays.

Well I won my election and I’m now an executive board member as well as a trustee of my union hall.

Was well worth it to come into work tired as fuck today, got paid double time to sleep in my car until almost 1pm because we were on standby

The alarm clock going off 4 hours after I get home playing a showing hurts a lot more into my 40s. How the fuck did I do this when I used to drink?

Leaving the house at 445am and still not home from work has me thinking things like “wonder if the cats get bummed when I’m not home at my usual time cuz they wanna listen to some records but they don’t know how to put them on?”

PA’s liquor laws had me feeling like a loser mid afternoon cuz I had to go pay for the single tall boy for my beer cheese separately from the rest of my groceries.

Have a couple days off between jobs and I slept in until 6am today. I’m so pissed.

What in my brain makes me think hey wonder whats up with that one kid in the neighborhood while growing up that would only occasionally hang around us is up to now, as soon as I wake up in the morning, just to be reminded oh he died almost 20 years ago.

Apprentice came in late still fucked up from last night, we told go hang out in the corner of the scaffold and don’t get in our way. Like listen the two of us are alcoholics in recovery you’re not gonna work through this, just make it worse for us, chill out for a bit.

Been enjoying gear lately for the first time in forever. Just trying out different combinations of things I own and actively looking at new stuff
