Just received a NOA today for the renewal of the R35 MIRA grant that supports my lab. Parent grant ended 3/31 and this new one start Aug1--4 month delay and years off my life. Very relieved and grateful for NIH staff that made this happen!

Hard to argue with the data. HOW is this being done ie HOW exactly are POs being prevented from sending out NOAs? Including mine?

Has anyone heard from their PO about funding for a NIGMS R35 competitive renewal? Mine is listed as “pending administrative review “ but PO telling me NOTHING. Someone else heard unofficially from PO that their R35will be funded but 40% cut. WTF? I submitted 1 year ago. Just want to know SOMETHING

YAY! NIGMS council meeting 5/22 is in Fed Register! My R35 competitive renewal is listed as 'pending council review'. NIH says"PEDP plans included in applications under review will not be evaluated or considered in funding decisions". My grant was scored with the PEDP in Oct. Can it be approved?

This is unbelievably petty and ridiculous treatment for a dedicated and rational man who kept us safe during the pandemic

In evolutionary terms our entire biomedical enterprise is experiencing a bottleneck. How many extinctions of scientific careers will result? How much loss of talent?

Can this policy be legally challenged? It is wrecking havoc and affecting increasing numbers of applications the longer it continues. How many investigators have one or more application in limbo?

My older sister was part of this trial. Truly a triumph for biomedical science.
