Today, I met with Marc Morial, President of the National Urban League. We discussed efforts to hold ICE and CBP accountable, both for the cruelty in our streets and the inhumane conditions we see in detention centers like Delaney Hall in NJ.

It’s a basic that Dutch Morial understood — retail politics involves *showing up* and listening and talking to people. I remember Dutch sitting on the floor in my living room, just talking with a small group of ppl. Every single one voted for him.

Marc Morial, Nat Urban League Pres and CEO, summed it up nicely when asked what Dems need to do. He shared they need to be assertive, vocal, committed and draft principled policies. Cannot argue these. Can we do this, Democratic elected women, esp the assertive piece?

My favorite line from Netflix's "Katrina: Come Hell and High Water," and there were many I jotted down, is when New Orleans Mayor Marc H. Morial told the biggest truth the GOP wants to kill: "No society in the history of humankind ever failed because they invested too much in their kids."
