Highlight of the week has to be Chiltern gentian (Gentianella germanica) . One of its central Bedfordshire sites is full of wrecked cars, rubbish and offroader damage, but the flowers survive.

My family call me swamp thing as random plants like to grow near me. This Pulsatilla vulgaris is self sown in mortar of front path. I guess it came home on muddy trainers from one of the Chiltern reserves nearby. I've never planted it and no one grows it nearby.
