Here's today's miniature #watercolour #painting, No.6 (June) in my Birth Month #Flowers - #Rose and #Honeysuckle. The background was tricky but it's turned out okay. I think things 'clicked' for me, once I recognised that these pictures didn't have to look like other people's flower paintings!

I had no time for #art this morning, but I just managed to squeeze in a #painting session this evening to produce the 5th picture in my Birth Month #Flowers miniature #watercolour series: May - #LilyoftheValley and #Hawthorn I feel like a style for these flower pictures is emerging now.

This morning's miniature #watercolour #painting is the No.4 in my Birth Month #Flowers series: April - #Daisy and #SweetPea. I'm much happier with this one - I did the background first with more detail, and then I embraced rather than minimised my use of ink for the final detailing and outlining

Here's another quick oil #pastel #Norfolk landscape picture. This one is smaller (13 x 11cm) and depicts a field of oil-seed rape. One thing I like about using pastels is that they force me to relax about the details and accuracy, and lean into capturing the general feel and impression of a scene...

I've just had another play, creating an A4-sized oil #pastel #landscape #drawing of a tree row backing a planted field near #RocklandStMary, #Norfolk. I liked the way the streaks of cloud mirror the field lines. I should probably find out how to use pastels properly but pure experimentation is fun!

My #innercritic is telling me not to continue my series of Birth Month #Flower miniature #watercolour paintings, so I'm trying to adopt a learner mindset to see if I can discover a style/approach I'm happier with as I go. I bought a cheap pack of brightly coloured #oilpastels two days ago and just had my first go with them. At first I thought they were like kids' wax crayons, and there was nothing much I could do with them, but then as I let myself play this mini #landscape (4x6cm) emerged. I rather like it! #art

I've just done another larger #watercolour #painting, loosely mimicking the style of 20th century Ligurian artist Angelo Maria Armao. It features the arched bridge and hillside castle in #Dolceacqua, #Liguria, #Italy. I need to learn to slow down to avoid colours running into each other in places!
