We observe similar patterns among farmers affected by import restrictions on certain Taiwanese agricultural products. The article is expected to be published in 2026. Interested readers can download the preprint from SSRN.

Using quarterly survey data from TEDS, we find that support among tourism industry workers increased significantly in the short term compared to other sectors—especially in (1) respondents traditionally aligned with the Pan-Blue coalition and (2) from cities receiving more government subsidies.
