A thing that irks me about the polarization debate is that people often frame it as inherently negative. It's not! It's a neutral thing. In a time of political corruption and mass disenfranchisement, where voices are systematically excluded from the discourse — polarization is a necessary backlash.

it is devastating to notice how few benches there are in the world and how some benches have been replaced by weird "leaning" things. the world is incredibly cruel to disabled, elderly, poor, pregnant, tired, homeless, and all people. there should be benches fucking everywhere for everyone

We should, as a society, have shame about how the disabled have been treated since COVID hit. That sometimes people turn that social shame into a personal shaming out of anger is something that anyone who's got any sympathy toward any kind of minority group should probably understand.
