Sorry to bring bad news this festive season but one of this year’s juvenile females X6F was found injured in Kibworth. It was taken to the vet and X-rays show that it had been shot with multiple wounds. The femur was shattered and could not be repaired. Consequently, she was euthanised.

Just look at that notch on her bill - evolved to sever the neckbone of her prey! An X-ray reveals no injuries or shotgun pellets, so now it this #peregrine falcon goes to DEFRA for examination. We're pretty confident that another female will show up on Derby Cathedral in the months ahead.
