I don't understand the obsession with dark themes on things. I like working in well lit areas and light text on a dark background is just awful to read. What am I missing?

I did a live coding technical test on a call today, using a browser-based instance of VS Code. Felt really uncomfortable at first, I really do lean on WebStorm / IntelliJ based IDEs more than I realised. Got over it eventually, I think the test went quite well
