After a 5-hour phone call until 4:37 this morning with one of my best friends that I haven’t seen since 2013, I think we should get back to the aural tether of just calling the people we don’t get to see often enough. Texts are great. I’m not shitting on texting. But they can’t compete with a call.

2022 was a good year. Pencil and charcoal on Strathmore toned paper. I hope I get to spend a little more time with this universe and flesh it out more.

Green Halo Absinthe. 2024. SOLD. Pencil and oil on paper. 18”x24”. With details. The only thing in oil is the outer green border. Everything else is rendered in Derwent lightfast pencil with some of the tiniest flecks of white in the wings, hair and sugar cube in ink.

The Stage. 2002. Pencil, oil and pastel on paper. 12”x18”. 24 year-old me was just finding my legs as a self-taught illustrator and this was a piece that helped shape a lot of work that came after it.

It will always be such an honor to be on anyone’s wall.

Early stages of August Gallows: Over the Moon. 2024. I laid down a charcoal base and work with graphite over that, using an eraser for the highlights instead of white pencil.

August Gallows: Over the Moon 2023. Graphite and charcoal on watercolor paper. 25.5”x35.5”. All the white areas are exposed paper. I started with a charcoal base and erased my highlights as I worked. Currently on display at Animazing Gallery in Las Vegas.
