Fable is very saddened by the several inches of rain we’re receiving today in one hell of a storm. She normally just ignores rain and goes out to bark in it, but too much today 🐕😔

Lasagna was the traditional holiday food in my family growing up, so now it’s reserved for either Christmas or New Years Day and my husband chooses for the other. Making two today, will freeze one perhaps for my birthday in January.

You know, my husband teases me for keeping everything, but this corner fragment of an XL thick plastic bag I kept from some kind of packing material was exactly the right size to cover the carousel lion’s head to prevent rain from getting into his wing holes during the big storm coming tonight. 💅🏻

Last weekend we had back-to-back work days for #SkyhorseCarousel to take down, prep, and prime all the scenery panels to get them ready to repaint. I was never a fan of their former color scheme, so we'll give them a new look with new scenes/animals adding Sky Stories to the astronomy theme. #SciArt

I will take every opportunity to yell at a person illegally parked in a disabled spot. The ones that don’t get embarrassed often try the “calm down, you don’t have to be so angry” line. My dude, I wouldn’t have to be angry if you weren’t a selfish asshole. Spot was filled legally the moment he left.

Cleaning up my office and getting organized for a big carousel work day tomorrow so naturally that means I’m also having a midnight solo dance party.

I got us two puzzle advent calendars from a company called Cloudberries (a fruit with which I was already obsessed). We’re starting a few days late but you don’t know the picture ahead of time and it’s pretty fun. (Bonus that it’s designed to be reusable with the backs of each piece numbered.)

I decided I needed a new portrait for various uses so I spent the morning making dumb faces at a camera. It turns out that when you take a bajillion photos a few of them turn out pretty ok! Thank goodness for the built-in lighting filters on phones now.

Just got stuck up the street from our house for 10 min bringing Fable back from our walk because there was a coyote just sunning himself and rolling in the fake grass in our front yard ☀️ Managed to call a neighbor to shoo it away before Fable could see and try to chase it!

I thought I might make a little dice version of my #FrameOfReference #SciArt sculpture, you know, just to mash two nerdy things together for no reason? Boy the laser settings are fiddly though! The small size of the dice are a real challenge to getting clean, visibly separate dots with some depth.

Apparently this holiday season is a season of puzzles, not sure what i spired it but we’re trying to finish puzzle two this month in time to start our puzzle advent calendars.

PRETTY GOOD. I used 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 powdered ginger, and 1/2 nutmeg and it came out excellent. A slightly savory flavor with just a little bit of bite to it. *chef’s kiss*

Making a lil Moon #SciArt tonight 🎵🌖 I have these metallic papers that must have some plastic in them, cut like a dream for complex topographies. Regular paper is super delicate to pull off the cutting mat. Though overall, this piece will be pretty small and simple compared to most of my others.

Paper finally submitted to journal, phew. Feels good to get them out the door!

My dog has spent all weekend and today just out barking in the rain. She doesn’t like the rain, but has decided she’s not going to let it keep her from doing her favorite thing. Bonus that she knows when she cooperates with being dried off she gets a lil treat, and then will just go back outside :)

Giving my glowforge a badly needed cleaning today. I haven’t given it any proper TLC since I etched all the carousel placards over a year ago and it’s full of sawdust. Poor thing I’m sorry lol.

Oh no I just heard we lost Alice. This is terribly sad. She was an incredible, talented, powerful voice of the disability community. She stood strong for herself and for all of us. She will be missed immensely.

*whispers* Every time I need to print something while my dog is asleep I quietly warn her so she wakes gently and doesn’t get startled by the sound.

Finally got my flu and Covid shots, ready for what I hope will be another mild winter surge.

We got our house painted from a flaking, old, boring gray to a vibrant green and I love it. It really complements the brown accents in front and brings the green foliage of the yard into the patio spaces. The painters just left and Fable is very glad to have her yard back though.
