Placeholder assets in a game should look obnoxiously temporary, so obvious that no one would mistake it for the final asset. In past games we've used the doge dog (rip) as an icon, hot pink versions of characters, our CEO's head, etc. If you use a temp asset that seems passable, it may stay there.

if you like pokopia and want more, or want to play a similar game but don't have a switch 2, i recommend the dragon quest builders games which are made by the same devs 1 is more focused on survival while 2 is more focused on story and customization, you don't have to be familiar w dragon quest
