I read a lot of my shonen updates on my lunch breaks at work and I started crying near the end of this arc with the tapir monster and I had to dip out to my car. What a lushly illustrated and deeply charming fantasy adventure. You can really tell the creators have a lot of love for their characters.

Post-Medaka battle manga fascinate me in large part because they're essentially written from a position of "complete" theory of how the genre works. We got a series all about the messy compiled legacy of the genre, and now everything which follows is starting from a very new base.
