Always feels like Donte does the small stuff to spur awesome Wolves things. Straight winning player.

Interesting to see Denver show some defensive cards there in that quarter. Tried the zone to mitigate Ant and the Wolves killed it. Then tried Jokic on Ayo and he blew right past him for a layup. Tough close, both teams throwing punches

Timberwolves forced Denver to try their zone and that lasted about 3 possessions. Great pace these last few minutes.

Not enough offense down the stretch and Pistons ramped up their intensity to close it out. Wolves will stay in the 6 seed. In completely unrelated news, the Thunder are beating the Lakers 82-51 right now.

Finch opting against Rudy Gobert right now down the stretch. He got killed a few times by Jalen Duren’s strength. The adjustment is to stick Julius Randle on him for more strength there, need to get a body on him on the boards.

Some meh offensive possessions on this Detroit run. Need to push the pace to reset and then find something repeatable to do in the half court.

Big offensive quarter there for Naz Reid to help give the Wolves a boost in the half court. Huge if he can use that as a launch pad for the rest of the year.

That clear out - PNR - pocket pass that the Timberwolves do is guaranteed open shot every time

That altercation was *slightly* less entertaining than last years with these teams

Couple more TOs here in the third for the Wolves after a mostly clean first half. Julius is being the engine to the offense but they’ll have to get back to running the floor if they want to get some better offense.

Julius playing bully ball here. Doing a great job of using his strength and taking it right at this physical Pistons defense.

Unfortunate close to that half after breaking out a 7 point lead late in that second quarter. Still need to continue to push the pace. TJ and Mike unexpected but welcome big boosts.

Mike Conley surging and looking extremely confident in that jumper

Cool to see TJ pop a bit here in the first half. Pace and transition is needed here tonight with no Ant + Pistons defense so the perfect time to bring it.

Bones shot from a rocket to set TJ up for that lay-in. Shannon Jr. could be a good benefactor of fast breaking with Bones and Ayo out there.

Jalen Duren fits into the Alperen Sengun category of guys who use their strength to try to body Rudy Gobert. He’s been getting the better of him so far, big thing to track this game.

Ayo Dosunmu and Bones Hyland will have to play big roles tonight with no Ant and a stout Pistons defense. Timberwolves won’t want to play offense in the half court without their best half court scorer, and against this physicality.

First Cade, now Ant. The 65 game rule is not my favorite thing.

Bringing the fun and good vibes to the squad down the stretch. Had a blast diving into the newest Timberwolves duo to take off!

Pretty brutal offensive stretch to close the third quarter there for the Timberwolves. Will need a big Julius start to the 4th to regain after the big Ayo 3.

Timberwolves defenders (other than probably Jaden) have done a great job on Shai today. He’s missing some shots he usually makes, but they’ve committed to not overpursuing for fouls.

My lord Ayo. He’s built for all of this.

So interesting how different Julius looks when his three ball is dropping. 2/4 today against a matchup he’s historically struggled against. Notable he’s looking pretty good so far.

Ayo Dosunmu understanding that pushing the pace before the Thunder defense gets set up is a great way to make it easier on the offense. Great quarter 1 from him.

Too much of a commitment to semi-contested, out of rhythm threes tonight

Chris Finch’s elixir for the very bad ball movement: Kyle Anderson

Randle showing similar flashes to what happened in the playoff series last year against the Lakers. They struggle to have a matchup for him. Naz following his lead in this way too

Similarly bad three point shooting and offensive starts from top scorers nets in a tie game here at the half. Minnesota has to do better on the boards and Ant has to find a way to get more shots in rhythm

11-4 offensive rebounding advantage for the Lakers has kept them close even with going 0/15 from three. Timberwolves will have to do better on that part of the game as the law of averages start to even out

Great win for the Timberwolves here today. It’s these types of flashes that make you believe in this squad and their ability to make noise in the playoffs.
