Here’s @rpgrant.bsky.social presiding over the annual winemaking effort — early indications promising! It was a very good year for our grapes.

Thanks to @rpgrant.bsky.social for braving the windstorm to gather these from the woods for me. The last finishing touch for Christmas.

Every November I order in paper-white narcissus bulbs, put them into gravel-filled pots in the dark, cold garage to force blooms for Christmas, water them — and then forget about them. It’s an act of faith and hope, but they never fail to flower on time. There may be a metaphor in there somewhere!

Rainy-day garden harvest - first up, the quinces. After having hardly any last year, this mast season produced bumper crop. Plenty to make membrillo for the Christmas cheese plate - but I will leave them in the bowl for a while just because their amazing scent fills the room so wonderfully
