In other news, for my first Twisted Tournament writing comp, I received the following trophies: 1x Most Tension ⚡ 4x Most Surprising 😲 My story was ranked a 7.87 and with so much amazing talent around that site, I'll take what I can get and work toward greater.

The swing from "I'm a capable writer." to "What is a word?" is honestly debilitating.

A bummer of a result since this was my favorite story I've written in a while, but I'm excited to see feedback!

Christmas brings out the worst in the suburban American.

And frankly, with family like this, I really don't need enemies.

No one owns up to their mistakes, even once they've been confronted with their nastiness. But hey, it's okay, because we all believe in Jesus Christ. He covers our sins, even when we don't actually repent. 🙄 (7)

What's worse, this is supposed to be your family. Mom and dad chose to have you - (meaning they didn't choose abortion during pregnancy.) Yet, we don't raise healthy families. We choose excuses and sayings like, "That's just how they are..." (6)

Gossip and back-biting, lying and omissions of truth, smiling in your face but [see the opening sentence], physical abuse, manipulation, financial abuse.... These are people who say "Jesus is Lord!"? These are the people actively and purposely doing damaging things? (4)

You see, I myself believe in Christ - so much so that I do my best to direct my actions and thoughts through Scripture. That said, it's jarring when you have family who say they believe what you do, but act in direct conflict with that belief. (3)

In processing what I'm feeling - work is still being done - I believe part of what is difficult is having been raised in a family who believes in Jesus. (2)

I genuinely don't look forward to this time of year. From November to February, Thanksgiving to Christmas until St. Patrick's, most of the negative moments I've had in life have happened around this time. Mentally, I have to work to overcome what I'm feeling during this time.
