Hubert desperately wanting Ferdinand to ask him The Question, knowing the spell might be the only way he is able to confess his feelings, while Ferdinand adamantly avoids it, knowing that any answer Hubert gives under the spell's affect won't mean as much to him as if Hubert said it willingly.
