I really have the feeling they gave up on corporate software in 2026. Like so few still care about thoughtfully created quality software. It's just about shipping no matter what. Some even seem to be losing their core values. On the other hand software is as expensive as ever. It just makes me sad.

Today I've finished my most recent tinker project 🥳 I never hear the doorbell in my home office. Since I didn't want to mess with the existing doorbell, I put a raspberry pi next to it. It runs a local sound classifier that triggers after a certain sound peak and proxies to homebridge.

What the hell happened to the WhatsApp icon on iOS? 😵 Looks super plain now

I feel like Safari on iOS is getting buggier with every update. Since 26.0, I've had issues with websites stuck loading, requiring a force kill of Safari to recover. This has become an increasing issue. Since 26.4, now some websites completely freeze and it's impossible to visit them at all.

PSA: If you're using #AlarmKit and it does not trigger alarms for some users. It may be due to them having "Require Face ID" enabled. It will just silently fail. No error when scheduling the alarm, no API to detect if a user has app lock enabled. Only mentioned here: developer.apple.com/forums/th..

Seriously SF Symbols is one of the nicest things Apple has added through the recent years. And I love how powerful it has become with animations, creating custom symbols, etc. 👏 It's always a lot of fun playing around with it.

Since the most recent update 2.2.3, my day counter app CannotWait does decorate events around Christmas and New Year's Eve festively 🎄

Just discovered by accident that you can tap and hold on SOME of the tab bar accessory items in the notes app 🤯 But it's completely unrecognizable which ones can be long pressed. Cool animation though!

I have never had issues with my storage for many years, constantly had about 100GB free. Now recently m iPhone storage went nearly full multiple times, but if I add up all big apps sizes and the system and iOS size, I again end up with about 100GB that should be free. I have no idea what's going on

Yesterday I fought for hours trying to make iOS 26s new bottom accessory work without glitching when switching between tabs. I just didn't manage to do it. It seems its identity changes everytime a tab is switched and since this is coming from the framework, there seems to be no fix. 🧵

I just noticed that a new project I created in Xcode 26 still has Swift 5 and strict concurrency checking set to minimal. Shouldn't it be about time to become complete or even Swift 6 as default? It's such a big pitfall. I forgot the change it and accidentally introduced issues right away 🤦‍♂️

I'm a bit behind in the Observable migration game and just catching up. I thought I'd finally migrate one of my projects since it's iOS 17 minimum. But I just don't like it 😅 It feels like everything is getting worse when migrating from ObservableObject.🧵

You can argue about Apple's new icon style, but imo they really did a great job with the Icon Composer!

Look what I got for my birthday today 😍

I earlier posted that I'm super happy about how iOS 26 turned out. This is still the case. But I just updated to macOS Tahoe and it feels a lot shakier and rushed than iOS. Proportions feel off, some icons look weird and animations are glitchy. The overall appearance somehow looks… unbalanced?

Honestly it's not only that I don't have any issues with battery life on the iPhone Air, I have the feeling I never had such good battery life before 😅 After work I usually have 70-80% of battery left. Right now (5PM) it's 96%, and I started at 6AM and even did release testing of our apps on it.

Any recommendations for TestPlan tools? Should be lightweight and straight forward tracking of test cases and test results from team members.

Today I was asked by a cashier what phone I have because she thought it looked so nice 😳 That's crazy, I don't think this ever happened to me before 😂

So… a week ago I got the iPhone Air after all 🙈 It was an unreasonable buy. But it's one of the most beautiful Apple devices I have ever owned. It's definitely on my list of favorite iPhones besides the iPhone X and 5. And I have zero complaints about battery life. Only thing I miss is a 5x zoom.

I underestimated all edge cases involved in a photo viewer 😄 But I'm really having a blast playing around with some newer SwiftUI APIs for the new photo feature of my days counting app (navigation transition, scroll transition, matching scroll position of the detail view to the parent list)

The zoom transition has been broken for me since iOS 26. If you scroll during dismiss, it's sluggish and if you dismiss too soon, the view is completely removed plus somehow even that navigation items break?!

Today I went into an Apple Store to check out the new iPhones. Two things: 1. Damn the Pro models were scratchy already after 5 days! 2. I DID NOT expect how beautiful the Air looks 😱 It's such a shame the battery and camera are so much worse.

I got used to the new iOS design and actually quite like it by now. But I was expecting a lot of less tech savvy people in my social environment to complain about it. Surprisingly, I've mostly heard positive feedback! Even from some Android users considering moving to iOS because of it.

A brief love letter to @telemetrydeck.com. I added it to all my websites a while ago. Now I wanted to learn more metrics like MAU, DAU, etc. for one of my apps without compromising privacy. It's so cool how easy it is to set up. Thank you for this great tool. ❤️

I'm very happy and relieved how iOS 26 turned out! Yes you can still debate how sensible and practical the decision was to use glass as the main design component. But comparing the first betas with the RC, there have been huge improvements. And embracing the glass in my own apps was a lot of fun!
