I don't always like to use the word "fun" because sometimes making things you care about isn't a whimsical joyous activity, but it's easier for the average person to parse and accept than "fulfilling", "rejuvenating", or "resonant". I find those values more important, but "fun" is a nice gateway.

I think the most important thing to ask when doing fan work is; are you having fun? Does this ignite your passion? If you can answer yes, then it really doesn't matter what other people think. You can be scrappy, you can be polished, you can be outlandish, you can be basic. Just be you!

Been saying "the internet is forever" is a massive lie for years now.

Is there some kind of design class curriculum that says you have to make bad features your users didn't ask for instead of good features your users want/need. And when you get inevitable pushback, double down instead of roll back. Why is this so common with websites?

Getting back into low-poly modeling has been more enjoyable than I expected.

It'll be nice to finish those models because I really want to experiment with different styles.

Got the newest version of srb2, moved the md3 exporter to a newer version of blender, confirmed it still works. I haven't touched the model pack in 2 years, so I'll probably be a little bit rusty.

idk if this is old news, but I guess bluesky did *something* with their image compression so now static pixel art looks even worse. Not even the 8x trick works anymore and a lot of pictures have been affected retroactively.

I kinda prefer to share things that are finished, only really showing development stuff after the fact, because I worry showing the development first would diminish the final result in some way. I'm tempted to start sharing developments of certain projects as I go. Not sure.

In my spare time I've been writing/concepting a project involving Shadow the Hedgehog since late 2019 I've gotten a positive response from people I've shown it to. I'm debating whether or not I should pursue it more seriously later this year, but it's a pretty complex project.

Fandoms suck, as a whole. But do not let that ruin things you like for you. That's just hipsterism. Appreciate things you like on your own terms and surround yourself with people you vibe with. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to engage with toxic parts of fandom because you like a thing.

When I'm not overthinking it, I love drawing environments because I get to play with unique shapes, or draw characters interacting with unique shapes.
