If you look into the Cartoon Series, Battle of the Planets, you'll find its real name, Gatchaman was actually the real series. American producers took it apart and re-wrote it. The baddy was gender fluid!! America in the late 70s being uber conservative reckoned that kids couldn't cope with it.
