Hi, friends! A few days ago, we shared an IG📸 post from an author who was unwillingly outed by readers in 2023. We have a few notes we want to share for how to keep the readathon safe and successful for everyone. 💕

Heartbroken this morning tbh. The
#womensprize
is such a big part of my reading year and I am devastated to see Adichie nominated. If your prize is celebrating the stories of women everywhere and a nominee doesn't believe trans women are women, what does that say about your view of women?

Trans Rights Readathon Reading Challenge, 2025 Edition! We have 5 core prompts to complete, and many “bonus” prompts that can be used to either find more specific books for the core prompts or as a bonus challenge to read all 30 prompts throughout the year, or some other personal goal in-between!

2 Spirit and Trans people are sacred. And it was Indigenous pedagogy that taught me that. 2 Spirit/ trans and queer people held positions of authority in their communities on Turtle Island prior to and during contact with Europeans. They were healers, educators and spiritual leaders.

My autistic daughter has made many a strange and odd gestures while stimming or jumping and playing…oddly, none of which look like a Yahtzee salute. She’s five. I’m confident in the future, she can continue to not fucking do that. Also, stop using the name Asburgers, it makes you look dumb.

This year, I surpassed by goal of 50 books, and I read 55 so far. That’s the MOST books in a year I have ever read, and I’ve been a reader my whole life. This year I hit a lot of my reading goals, and I’m proud of myself. So if you read 200 books this year, I’m proud of you! Keep reading!

Every time I read about banning books, I think of this: Reading a book with a gay character will not make you gay any more than reading a book about Einstein will make you a genius. If you're afraid that books might change someone's thinking, you're not afraid of books — you're afraid of thinking.

The general consensus was “don’t bother” 😂 okay, I don’t need any additions to my TBR, I’ll just enjoy the movie hype and soundtrack ☺️

Ableism teaches us to abandon each other. Racism will disable you. Transphobia will disable you. Long COVID will disable you. Genocide will disable you. Climate change will disable you. Do not obey when told to abandon the vulnerable. Resistance & communities must be rooted in disability justice.

I’m convinced the “do audiobooks count as reading?” argument all derives from those mid-90s summer reading pizza challenges. Folks - we’re all in our 30s and 40s now. It’s no longer a competition. Go buy your favorite pie with your adult money and let people enjoy books however they want.

A reminder that 37 towns & villages have been completely erased by Israel in Lebanon. Ethnic cleansing in action Most of this destruction is in south Lebanon. No wonder then that there are those who call for reoccupation and resettlement. Intentions clear

I was dropping my autistic daughter off at kindergarten today ( she still only does partial days) and her class was going for a field trip, and one little girl yelled “yahhh Ainslee is coming on the field trip!!” And I almost cried immediately.

The very first Palestinian family I started to advocate for completely lost their campaign and now have to start from scratch. This is an extremely devastating blow to what little hope they’ve been holding onto. This is Boshra & Mohammad- a disabled couple in N. Gaza. 🧵
