ᅠ his hand fell back to his side. a brief, thoughtful pause followed before he spoke again. “hawk.” he had purposely left out the '𝑠.' “that is what 𝑓𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 calls me.” ᅠ

ᅠ displeased by the repeated remark, s-hawk drew his weapon in a single motion and swung at buggy. he had no patience for being likened to pigeons. ᅠ

ᅠ “we have already exchanged greetings,” he said, finding no logic in the redundancy. ᅠ

ᅠ he quickly retorted, “I am not a 𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝑝𝑖𝑔𝑒𝑜𝑛 𝑏𝑜𝑦!” his voice had risen in tone. “and stop making those fa— why do you want to know?” ᅠ

ᅠ he mirrors her hand movements, tilting his hand to the side. “like this?” ᅠ

ᅠ his gaze narrowed. “and your parents kept you around even with that deformity?” ᅠ

ᅠ he let the letter fall back into the pile with a small, indifferent flick of his wrist. “perhaps you are right,” he said; the balance was important. he looked over at his father. “then leave it for now,” he added, pausing briefly [𝑡𝑏𝑐] ᅠ

ᅠ he answered plainly, “I was made this way.” ᅠ

ᅠ “If he’s this much of a nuisance, I can kill him for you, father,” he said, the word 𝑓𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 still foreign on his tongue. he crouched down and picked up one of the letters to check for an address. he meant what he said. ᅠ

ᅠ he stared at the girl, not particularly baffled by her energetic demeanor or forward friendliness, but by the odd way she raised her hand. turning toward her, he asked, “Is something wrong with your hand?” ᅠ

ᅠ he eyed it; it was impossible to overlook. the clown’s nose was bright red and prominent at the forefront. “why does your nose look like that?” ( @buggydclown.bsky.social ) ᅠ

ᅠ “—so you're throwing out the letters?” to say he understood the necessity of it would be a lie. he considered it for a moment, then spoke with quiet finality. “don't respond.” ᅠ

ᅠ s-hawk spared the girl a brief, measured glance but remained silent until she spoke. “hello.” at the very least, he had the courtesy to acknowledge her. ᅠ

ᅠ “what exactly are you doing?” s-hawk finally spoke, his sharp gaze following each discarded letter. ᅠ
