I’m required by work to watch a 90-minute instructional video on how to use Microsoft Teams. This feels hostile. Or maybe I just feel hostile about it. Either way.

Listening to this unique treat of an album by Spanish musician Otro. The album is 21 tracks in 24 minutes of experimental ambient featuring instrumental guitar. It feels like something you’d hear coming out of an empty club on a dark street at the end of the night.

My incomplete (always) list of albums out today that interest me. What am I missing? And are there any albums you’re in love with right now?

This Beverly Glenn-Copeland album is gorgeous. The 82-year old folk/jazz singer was recently diagnosed with dementia, and recorded this album in collaboration with his wife Elizabeth. It’s full of grief and joy, in equal measure. Tremendous.

Listening to Ellur and drinking coffee. It’s catchy, moody, grownup music. Feels good.

Listening to this new album from London band Ulrika Spacek while commuting home along dark rural highways was a treat. It’s slightly experimental, downbeat, alternative electronic psych-rock, but understated. I like it.

They’ve updated Xikipedia where it can now store data locally so your feed doesn’t reset every time you close it. This is so simple, but I am finding it a good replacement for other endless scrolls.

This was really weird and wonderful.

Slo motion ski jumping over Popol Vuh music- what’s not to like? (Great recommendation!)

Listening to the new album from Ratboys. It took me a couple of tracks to get into it, but it grew on me. The sound is melodic and loose indie pop rock.

I’ve done some more work on this animation. I still don’t quite know where it’s going, but it’s getting somewhere!

Now listening to new (officially first) album from Geologist. Part of his description of the album reads: “a rippling songscape in which his hurdy gurdy gives and takes multiple forms, an epic electro-acoustic textile of many colors cut from the life and times of Brian Weitz”

I really like this aggressive, moody, experimental noise. I hadn’t heard of this band, but I’m into this new album.

My listening habits trend towards new stuff, but this album of Brazilian Indie Rock from 2005 is great.

I really like this new album of ambient/drone/experimental music. The track titles work together as a poem, with the final line, “Blues For The Great Refreshing Earth Bodhisattva.”

I definitely plan to catch up with this one this week. It’s a great day to buy from Bandcamp! (This is a #BandcampFriday where the platform passes all revenue from album sales directly to artists.)

This is a great idea. It plugs into the same “slot machine” dopamine drip as scrolling anything else, but you’re getting a slightly-tailored feed of definitions, and concepts. Neat trick.
