The new Rosalía album sounds like drinking from a chalice as the waves crash upon your ocean palace (complimentary).

I’d never experienced this level of ladybug invasion until I moved into the North Georgia Mountains, but it happens every fall and it’s a mostly-harmless nightmare.

I feel like I’m missing the cultural context around Rosalía, but so far, this album is epic and engrossing. Rococo opera pop in multiple languages. I’m here for this.

I didn’t have a chance to really dig into any new music today, but “Berghain” from Rosalía’s new album is awesome.

I live with a chronic mental health disorder and my job is to support people who are struggling with their mental health. Some days, that many dysregulated* nervous systems in one building is…a lot.

The new Tortoise, Yellow Eyes, and Coroner albums are all quite exciting to me. Still have to give the new Danny Brown a listen at some point. Kikagaku Moyo's Masana Temples and Flaming Lips' Clouds Taste Metallic were also played recently.

Why is it that I can enjoy sitting through a three-hour movie and find the experience refreshing, but if I watch more than a few 2-minute-long videos online I get really antsy and kind of angry (even when the content is completely benign)?

Now listening to Start Anew, the new album from Toronto rapper Shad. This has been a good couple of weeks for laid-back, mellow, jazzy hiphop. This one feels both retro and fresh. It’s good Saturday morning music.

How did the growth-imperative mindset become so dominant when it benefits so few people? Is it really just that everyone hopes they’ll be the profiteers one day? Can sustainability ever really replace growth as the priority? (I actually got a good night’s sleep, folks, so now my brain’s a-whirring.)

Here are my twenty most-listened-to albums in October. Most of them were recent new releases, Upchuck probably being my favorite new (to me) discovery. A few are from earlier this year that I haven’t stopped playing.
