For vast majority of business owners, it’ll take ~15min (if you’re like me & had to scan in ID doc; faster otherwise). But if your LLC is more complicated perhaps because you’re evading taxes or child support; hiding bribes; or laundering for narcos, it’ll be more complicated. Sorry, not sorry.

The US Beneficial Ownership Information Register, which tackles money laundering through shell companies, is being targeted for repeal by lobbyists. It’s vulnerable to this in its first year, because that’s when business owners are asked to register—but it obviously isn’t producing useful data yet.

There’s no right way to do this. It always looks terrible!
