I think about the Bobcat Goldthwait/Jerry Seinfeld feud sometimes. Jerry is the most successful comic ever and co-created the greatest and most popular sitcom ever, so on most levels he “won.” But ultimately Bobcat won, because being disliked still gets under Jerry’s skin.
