Theo on the "power imbalance" between Hyden and he. (Can't have a savior complex about a person who doesn't need saving!) Hyden IS manipulating Theo, but he's leading Theo with a rope that Theo handed to him, and Theo wouldn't have given him that rope if Hyden had appeared strong enough to yank it.

Despite Theo really wishing he'd been born as an the same species as his mother instead of as a rat-person, an ermine-Theo would not look as elegant as he thinks he would look.

At Ambroys' present-day multi-century age, some past screw-ups don't seem so bad anymore, maybe because he's successful now, or people who'd be mad at him are long dead, or he's lied about them so often he's replaced his memories with confabulations. Still, he has few mistakes that he winces over.

Ambroys can endure injuries that would kill most. In his elder years, he is only mildly inconvenienced by mortal wounds. At this age (60+ despite the baby face), he's taken a lot of hits. Still squeamish about pain though. Anya has a much keener interest in exploring the limits of his fortitude.

Jocosa endured her conjugal duties because it was her obligation as the sole heir to her line, but after the birth of her son, she put the marital bed to death. A mercy killing. She wouldn't dare speak of her dread of a man's touch, were it not for the rules of this prompt demanding the truth.

Which of his parents does Theo resemble? Kinda both, kinda neither. He's a bit of an anomaly.

Theo's not lying about reading this tripe to understand how "normal people" view Hyden, except this book was not made for normal people. Which is why he - well. "Likes it" isn't quite right, but he definitely feels some kind of way about it.

The Norths are old-fashioned sorts - Jocosa and Theopolis share plenty of critiques about modern society that are all behind the times and mostly behind people's backs.

Ambroys is ribbing Lou here, but he's also being genuine. He spent more time in commoner spaces than would be expected (or socially acceptable) for a noble. The delights of the humble were simpler, lower-stakes, more "honest" than court life. He'd describe the appeal of being with Lou similarly.

Theo's response to being asked about his school bullies and the revenge he took on them... Theo still shudders to recall the years being battered and harassed by fellow sons of high society, but there is a joy in permanently mutilating an enemy and knowing you have gone from victim to threat.

Someone asked how Ambroys would feel about having his own harem. Ambroys feels that would be TOO MUCH FRIGGIN WORK. He's good at getting girls, but keeping them is another story. Sounds like a lot of stress to a man who has trouble sustaining just one love affair, let alone enough to form a harem.

Theo's feral habits are a sore subject for him. There is a spectrum of permissibility for bestial behavior, but Theo is deep into the “socially unacceptable” side of those scales. He tries hard to appear a gentleman, but sometimes he requires a little reminder from Mother about his poise... (1/2)

Ambroys figures he's smart enough to do whatever he wants. But almost nobody tells him of his faults to his face. If he was informed that he was developing a reputation for being a dolt - not a carefree libertine who shirks the dull in favor of the fine but a genuine idiot - that would bother him.

This question sent him into pissy-paggro mode, but only because his intelligence was insulted. Being a rake is disparaged but he can spin it as being cool, but there is nothing cool about not knowing how to count. He IS an impulsive, lazy, incurious twit, but he CAN count.

Another invasive game question, this time about Ambroys' blessed sterility. His lack of fertility doesn't hurts his self-esteem directly; as an irresponsible young man he WOULD like to have sex without worrying about oopsie-babies, and frankly, he often doesn't much think about it... (1/2)

It’s a little embarrassing for Theo to admit he’s so fond of something so gauche, but once he opens his mouth about the Phantom of the Opera it’s difficult for him to close it again.

A rare moment of accurate self-assessment and sound judgment from Ambroys is tarnished by his complete inability to make good life choices.

Little response to an ask mentioning how Leonard has been estranged from Theo's life, but is "very alive" and happily ignorant of Theo's bizarre hobbies. Ah... yeah. Very alive. I'm sure dear old dad is just fine, don't even worry about it.
