So I spent some time this holiday break getting a development environment set up in Windows, and it was... surprisingly reasonable?! Interesting that #Rust played a notable part in that for me...

Elasticsearch did a convenient thing with storing the document _source, but for so many use-cases, it's redundant. Trying to think about reasons why—for, you know, search—it should ever be used, and that list is coming up a lot shorter than reasons not to store it… 🤔

So if Engineering is the bones of search, and if Information Retrieval / Data Science / ML is the mind… then Product is the heart and flesh, the will and motivating force behind it all.
