Yeah Mega Man 9 is still one of the best in the series. Very solid level design, great weapons (this time i used laser trident the most), fun albeit simple bosses, and some bangin’ tunes. While the robot masters aren’t my favorite lineup ever, I still like them and find their tragedy is sympathetic

A lot of times i usually start with a singular theme, then integrate a second theme later on and try to make those two themes work. You can add more themes than that, of course, but if you try to add too many then the design becomes busy and unfocused
