I hope this isn't too hijaking. This is medium-curly high-volume hair I did with a typical round brush. What I did was repeated squiggle shapes accompanied with "dots"/presses down. Sometimes it was "squig-down down" , "s-down", or "squiggle squiggle" or whatever combination. Hope it's obvious.
