I was covering the rally tonight and noted the same thing. For reference, the city did not do this during the November budget protests (which I also covered). There were significantly fewer protesters today. The only major difference was what they were protesting and the colour of their skin.

Hot take but if your argument against paywalls is that they aren't "conducive to innovative methods of revenue development" you're basically admitting that the profit motive is tainting your so-called "news." If you're "open access" to make money and not out of principle, you're not open access.
