You are intentionally choosing not to understand the issue. Nothing about King's life experience was Indigenous. He was playing people with stories they wanted to hear, further obscuring the real stories of actual Indigenous peoples. Cherokee know who belongs to them.

Thomas King has no documented ancestry, no Tribal affiliation (they never claimed him), no lived experience or living family kinship ties to any community and as a result, had no knowledge of community or of distinct cultural practices, etc… At any rate, he has ZERO dna on top of all this.

It isn’t enough just to talk about how much Thomas King wronged us. We have to ask bookstores to remove his books from Indigenous spaces and place them in the fantasy section. Also, we should be asking for our money back from his publisher. Actually, I think all of his books should be removed.
