No joke, this may be the most effective advertisement I’ve ever seen. I don’t even need the product and I almost bought one just because Antoine Dodson comes across as the most likable human alive.

OBAMA: It's fair to say that 80% of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it.

The main reason I take LLM generated code with a huge grain of salt is that I know for a fact that most code that I (and LLMs) stumble upon online is toy-quality, not meant to be run in production. Most "getting started" guides make too many shortcuts for it to be useful in prod.

Broadway is the most depressing road in Vancouver. Nothing survives there. Another one bites the dust: fav lunch place closed down. Only cars survive here, going 10-20kmh over the speed limit. What a shithole.

Finally, somebody calls it what it is: “open-weight models”. It’s not open source if you can’t see the training data. You can just see the numbers. It’s even less useful than a compiled executable.

First time making my own pasta was a success! I used 180gr of whole wheat and 60gr of all purpose flour plus two eggs, salt. Knead into a ball and let it rest for 30 minutes. Was about three portions worth. Pasta machine paid itself back after one meal. Why hadn’t I tried this sooner?

If I remember correctly my first computer was an MSX, from Philips. But soon after I got my Commodore 64, which was more popular so there were many more “warez” for it. Nothing beat MSX Basic though: it came with sound and graphic commands not found elsewhere.

I’ll say it again — Metro Vancouver is THE North American hotbed for transit-oriented development. No other North American region comes close. Today was DAY 1 of 4 days of “deep dives” where I’m touring municipal leaders from Ontario, riding skytrain lines & digging into transformed station areas.

Deploying Defang with Defang: Part 1 Deploying applications is hard. Deploying complex, multi-service applications is even harder. When we built Defang Portal, deploying its six services, including auth, databases, and frontend, was more complex than we wanted, even with early Defang tooling.
