Today kickstarts induction. My life long uni friends emerged from a chance encounter in the welcome desk queue where I ended up befriending the girl ahead of me& subsequently her flat mates. Looking around the lecture room I’ll be thinking about all the friendships to be made & that’s exciting.

One of our brilliant graduates this year, Aliyah Kerr, has turned her dissertation on anti-#apartheid #activism in #Liverpool into a Substack article. It's a brilliant read, and really showcases the quality of the research our students do for their dissertations. Give it a read!

Slowly, painfully working on my book about the history of post-apocalypse/Cold War role-playing games. If nothing else, at least I have some unfunny chapter titles to work with. I mean, someone's bound to give me a book contract for this stuff? Right? Right? Oh no!

Christmas is coming so we're extending our laptop loans!

Reading through the professionally done transcripts of my post-apoc RPG oral history interviews leads to some head-scratchers. Took ages to discern (via listening to the interview again) that "acting all careless heroes" should be "acting all Kelly's Heroes", regarding Twilight 2000 characters.

Really enjoyed* giving my paper on settlement bedrooms to the my Faculty’s Home Studies Research Cluster. This might be the only real book stuff I’ve done this semester. But I’ve decided that on Friday I’m going to do more plotting. *(even if my cat did insist on having loads of attention during it)

#ThrowbackThursday This another #historic image of our department building on Mount Pleasant in the heart of #Liverpool. The chapel is now one of our biggest lecture theatres.

It was an absolute delight for us to host the regional heat of the Historical Association's "Great Debate". Young #historians from #Merseyside schools presented their research on how local #history tells global stories. We were utterly impressed by the quality and confidence of the presentations!
