You know what someone should do if they wanna make a Crash fan game and have the resources and team? Crash Nitro Kart but it’s a traditional Crash Bandicoot platformer. Mainly because I’d love to see a fan rendition of Velo and his henchmen performing warp messages.

Got a bit interested in what I could do and still have the game export and run fine to remain comfortably bellow 1GB build size. Things I learned: - glb files that you only import resources from can be excluded - you can define excluded file types - you can uncheck engine features you don't use

Further camera improvements. If you've watched any of the previous footage, you might have noticed how the camera moves back and forth on the path if you jump. This was due to inaccurate player follow path object code, that I've rewritten after observing PhantomCamera's code. #sAm_art

Always funny when running into a review from 2010s claiming Crash of the Titans and Mind Over Mutant ruined MY childhood. They didn’t actually, I had a blast with jacking titans, and always had access to the originals on PS1 and earlier titles on PS2 so I was all good lol.

Basically this inside wherever you want to handle the movement of a secondary look at target. I put this inside the same code that moves the PathFollow node following the player.

Y'all. Major breakthrough with level camera. Finally got it to follow player's position up and down for a certain distance each direction. So now it feels even more authentic. I've used PhantomCamera's group look at setting before, but only with code I wrote today did it start getting results.

Glad I had that break from fan game development and did something else for a while. Feels like ideas are coming to me easier.

Hey fellow Godot and Blender users. If your animations have a noticable stutter/pause at the end of a seamless loop after importing gltf to Godot, go back to Blender and make every looping animation start from frame 0. And it just works. It fixes some persisten frame calculation error.

A little subtle change to make the vortex face a little cleaner. Inserted a new face, and shrunk the UV of the border down and placed it over the body's region in the texture. Work smart.

Blender crashed and I lost progress on an N.Trance test animation. Some test poses instead, I don't have time to redo that lol. #sAm_art #CrashBandicoot

End credits are weird to make as a solo dev. Long list of going ”thing by me”. And if I was blessed with help for audio, a list of talented individuals after all that.

I think my favorite things to come out of sharing the fan game progress is when people say they feel like they're witnessing a new Naughty Dog Crash game being made, or when what I do inspires someone to pick up Godot and do something too. Those little precious moments that give me motivation.
