This might actually be the Year of the Linux Desktop for me. I've been watching so many Linux customization, performance benchmarks, media editing, and daily use videos, and it all screams fun and enjoying the PC experience, which is something I have yet to feel in Windows 11.

One big issue: for some reason, hiding the taskbar creates a gap on the bottom of maximized apps where my desktop peeks through. Is there any way to fix this?

This is about as custom as default Windows 11 can get. I hid the taskbar and desktop icons, use PowerToys Run to launch (most) apps/utilities, and my commonly used apps are pinned to the hidden taskbar so I can access them via the Windows + [number] keyboard shortcut.
