Giants trade Luis Matos to the Brewers for cash considerations, acquire RHP Dylan Smith from Tigers for cash considerations, DFA Tyler Fitzgerald.

The Giants announced that Luis Matos was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for cash considerations. Tyler Fitzgerald was DFA’d to open a roster spot for reliever Dylan Smith, who was acquired from Detroit for cash considerations.

According to FanSided’s Robert Murray, the #SFGiants are trading for recently DFA’d Tigers reliever Dylan Smith for cash. The 25 year old had a 1.38 with 5 walks to 4 strikeouts in 7 games in his big league debut last year, and a 2.27 ERA last year in the minors (30 games across 4 levels).

Sacramento pitcher Blade Tidwell is out after 2.2 innings, having a successful turn through El Paso’s lineup, allowing only one walk and striking out three. Sacramento also limited last night’s starter Carson Seymour to 2.0 innings. #SFGiants

And the #SFGiants Spring Breakout game ends in a 10-1 loss, with Scott Bandura’s 9th inning triple the only real highlight. It was a tough one, but it was also a very young/low-level group for the Giants today.

The night is over for Hernandez, Jordan, Kilen, and Davidson after 5 innings. Honestly, it’s been a rough night for the young hitters against Chase Petty, a Triple-A pitcher with big league experience.

Luckily this temperature is not current, it was probably just the game start. Feels more like a manageable 92 degrees right now.

Really bad outing for De La Torre. Was fighting his control, giving up a pair of slap singles to right before loading the bases with no outs. Got a strikeout, but gave up 3 run on the mound, including walking one in, and two more in after he left.

41 pitches for Keyner Martinez through 3 innings. Other than the bunt single and home run, he’s been good, 30 strikes to 11 balls 2 K’s, no walks.

Rough first inning for Martinez. A bunt single got the first one on, and the second batter hit a fast fall out to right field for a home run. But after giving up a single that got past third baseman Lorenzo Meola, Martinez got his first strike out and quickly retired the side

This is not a surprise. Bryce is young, there’s still work for him to do. This isn’t a bad thing.

Jesus Cano of Baseball America is reporting that top international signing Luis Hernandez WILL skip the Dominican Summer League and play in the Arizona Complex this season. This sets up an immediate pairing with Josuar Gonzalez in the ACL, and the potential he’ll be in San Jose late this year.
