Against all expectations, former #SFGiants 1st round pick Reggie Crawford returned in a rehab assignment to the Arizona Complex League, but unexpectedly, he was a hitter. Two years ago, the Giants had announced he was only going to be a pitcher moving forward.

However this game ends up, you know what my favorite thing to see out of this #SFGiants game? The mound meeting of the infield with Miller after that (lucky) Double Play, and having both Adames and Devers hyping up Miller on the mound. That's the attitude of a team that cares.

Let's debate whether the Jonah Cox move is a good one. Is skipping Triple-A okay? Well, it can be, but more often for pitchers. Since 2010, the list of players called up straight from AA for the Giants is not a list full of highly successful guys.

Let's talk about who Jonah Cox is. Cox was originally a 6th round pick in 2023 by the Athletics. But after a season, he was traded to the Giants for Ross Stripling. In his first season, he split time between Low-A and High-A, and then spent a second in High-A.

Congratulations to Jonah Cox! I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do...but this is a move that will inspire more conversation.

Well, I was wondering if the Tarps Off movement would come to SF. I am not surprised.

FWIW, Sacramento has only three official outfielders on the roster in Grant McCray, Victor Bericoto and Turner Hill. Catcher/utility player Thomas Gavello would probably be next up in the OF, while Buddy Kennedy and Christian Koss have had *very* limited time out there.

Earlier this week, the #SFGiants shuffled up a pair of middle IF to new levels: Zane Zielinski to AA and Aeverson Arteaga. Both are better known for defense than power. Today, both hit home runs in their debuts at their new levels.

The Arizona Complex League Giants just beat the Dodgers 29-2, and Josuar Gonzalez was 3-for-3 with three walks, a double, and six runs score, and Luis Hernandez was 5-for-5 with a home run and three doubles and nine RBI, and yet, I have not told you the most bonkers part...⬇️

Although it was two years after I graduated, my high school, Hillsdale High, made it to the state finals in boy’s basketball…and ran onto Harvard Westlake, with the Collins twins. Hillsdale lost…by a lot. Crazy to learn that Jason is now gone. RIP

It’s a windy evening right now in Ontario, in time for the first ever San Jose Giants visit to ONT Field and the new Dodgers affiliate! Looking forward to see how it plays here!

There’s a smattering of boos here at Dodger Stadium as Willy Adames knocks in a run to make it 7-3 after the Dodgers walked the bases loaded. I mean, the boos aren’t as loud as they were at Oracle, but it also isn’t nearly as crowded here now.

It’s the bottom of the 4th, and this is a rivalry game. Look, I know it’s a Monday, and the Giants do suck…but especially with a championship trophy giveaway, this attendance is disappointing.

I try to make reasonable takes on things…but it truly is hard to understand the strategy with having Eldridge sit on the bench. He still has work to do on his strikeouts. He can still improve his defense, though he’s probably still better than Devers right now.

Regardless of the team I root for….I can’t like this. The advertising lessens the history of the game.

In their latest mock draft, updated since the trade, BA reiterates that they are hearing the #SFGiants looking for bats with their top pick, passing up Flora for either Jacob Lombard or Eric Booth. There is also a reiteration that Roch is NOT going to fall.

I don’t know how to clip this on the phone. Thought this was odd last night during the Brandon Lowe AB in the 9th. Bailey was making looking over into third base dugout a lot.

If you want the name I’m now watching in the draft, it’s high school 2-way player Jared Grindlinger. At 27, he’s one of the youngest players in the draft, and had been connected to Tennessee, where his brother plays. He fits the Giants reported desire for youth and upside.

The new draft pick gives the Giants an interesting opportunity to go somewhat with a budget pick at #4 and money to go over slot on a “unsignable” high school pick at 29, though missing out on a high ceiling prospect that would still be available at 4 would be disappointing.

Matt "Tugboat" Wilkinson is a big lefty pitcher who defies current pitching standards. A big guy who throws a fastball around only 90 MPH, but control and breaking pitches help it work. He's off to a superb start in AA, with a 1.59 ERA after 6 games.

One immediate thought about this trade is that the Giants have some work to do still with Jesus Rodriguez playing defense behind the plate. There will be quite a shift from having Bailey back there. Susac is more competent, but definitely not a defensive wiz right now.

Okay...wow. Both in terms of the Giants trading away Patrick Bailey, and in getting another first round pick back. Wild move with a lot of implications.

Today, the Richmond Flying Squirrels scored 12 RUNS….in the 12th inning!!…to win a game 18-6. That has to be a minor league record for runs in an extra inning.

FYI: Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell will be making a rehab start against the San Jose Giants at Excite Ballpark on Wed. April 22nd (Tomorrow as I post this). Just in case you want to go boo someone... He will likely pitch just one inning, as most rehabs go. But that likely means he will face Level.

The Sacramento River Cats lose two games with their second straight rainout. Although Las Vegas does visit again in late June, these two games will not be made up.

I can not wait until Bryce Eldridge is up and playing first base. He is a far better fielder than Devers. (He’s not ready yet, he’s working on not striking out too much, but I still can’t wait.)

The Giants announced that Luis Matos was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for cash considerations. Tyler Fitzgerald was DFA’d to open a roster spot for reliever Dylan Smith, who was acquired from Detroit for cash considerations.
