The Emmy nominations are out, and once again I’m happy to report that The Tonight Show with Fallon was not nominated.

I spoke to my old friend Mitch McConnell this morning, the senior Senator from Kentucky. We spoke for about 20 minutes. We spoke about Madonna’s new album, the Supergirl movie, and if Bears should be muscular or chubby. I told him it was time, and he can go he just stared, blankly.

I hate to tell the congressperson that the reason there are scholarships for women in college sports is men’s football. Under title IX an equal number of scholarships have to be available for men and women athletes. The revenue sports (football, basketball) take up most of the men’s.

Saturday we went out to eat and shared a server with a group that we found out were Argentinian men in town. The server was working through a language barrier and lots of beer. I saw after they left she showed the bill to the bartender. She told me, $250, no tip. She said several groups had stiffed.

This decision by the court knocks down a major precedent on creating independent agencies, taking away a major power of Congress and giving it to the Executive branch. It truly allows the president to turn agencies away from their intended purpose and serve the president’s agenda.

Saw Supergirl today. Good thing to go darker as to not have a girl clone of Superman. A sex trafficker for a villain seems right. The filmmakers Definitely wanted the big explosive action ending but it actually fell a little flat for me, mainly because I hate the Lobo character, always have.

I work in an office campus surrounded by other office campuses. Frito-Lay is next door, but recently all their signage has been changed to the parent company, PepsiCo (downgrade). Across the street is KFC-Pizza Hut, but the Hut just got sold, so I’m waiting for that side of the sign to come down.

The last few weekends ’rump has been staying at the White House, not going to Mar-A-Largo or Bedminster. After a long night outside, he had to get on Air Force One to go to France for the G7. I wonder what level of effort it’s taking to prop him up for travel today.

Watching Apple’s WWDC and the addition of several AI tools to “enhance” your photos. I’m not sure if this is just the next iteration of Photoshop, or something that crosses a new line. With photoshop we started questioning authenticity, but with this I’m not sure we can ever trust photos now.

Saw The Mandalorian and Grogu today. It was fine. Some very good action scenes, a pretty generic plot, a second act that could really use some punching up. The creature shop had fun, for sure.

I was but a child in 76 for the Bicentennial, so I don’t remember a lot about specific national events, but the logo was very prominent and the country seemed hopeful after kicking Nixon to the curb. This 250 stuff just seems forced and centered around one guy, not the country or it’s history.
