The point I make in classes is that with tech platforms playing sizable role in distribution of media in 2025, they have leverage and can be a chokepoint. And the worrying thing about tech companies making/owning media creation is we are marrying distribution oligopoly to creative oligopoly.

Netflix’s acquisition of WB becomes my new exhibit A for teaching industry oriented grad students why you NEVER put predictions in scholarship (or assume anything as it is at a given historical moment means something like that will never happen)

While I don't encounter this level of student disconnection, parts of this thread certainly resonate with me.
