You would think a group called "Pro-Housing Pittsburgh" would praise the success of ACE Innamorato's 500 in 500 Initiative...but I guess they're too busy trying to remove community input on development.

If you support affordable housing and believe that inclusion should be mandatory, not voluntary, show up tomorrow morning to oppose Councilperson Strassburger's IZ amendment. It's nothing more than another attempt to let developers have their way at the cost of existing residents

Yesterday, Pittsburgh City Council Member Erika Strassburger tried to gut the inclusionary zoning bill by sneaking in amendments that no one in the public nor her fellow council members had been given sufficient time to review or read.

For the second time this year, Pittsburgh YIMBYs have introduced new data at the last minute to circumvent public feedback to try and kill Inclusionary Zoning, all while talking about wanting to discuss the future of housing in "good faith". Shame on them.

If you didn't think the foundations were bad before, they're all now supporting some form of "ethical" AI use and encouraging it for nonprofits. Meanwhile some are funding environmental preservation. What a fucking joke.

Pro-Housing Pittsburgh is once again bashing Inclusionary Zoning. They've spent more time complaining and mocking social justice groups than coming up with a solution. Never trust an "advocacy group" that is predominantly white men that mocks groups led predominantly by people of color/women.

Abundance YIMBYs have started a new publication with the most libertarians I've ever seen in one place. They're trying to claim this is for "the left" yet have clear references to race science in part of what they hope to accomplish. (Don't worry, they walked back the transphobia last night!)

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it: Anyone who thinks the community is a burden should not be involved with housing or any form of community development work.

This does not build trust and is why people don't like YIMBYs.

Most of my friends in the Pittsburgh area are also colleagues so you've probably heard/seen this from me in some form already, but in case you're still undecided about the mayoral election in Pittsburgh, I'll keep my reasoning short and based purely on personal experience.

He's voting for Mayor Gainey: "In public meetings, O’Connor seemed to stay in the back glad-handing folks, rarely speaking up and never solidly siding with the neighborhood. By contrast, Gainey walked our streets, listened and made terminating the MOC a campaign promise — that he fulfilled."

To no one's surprise, Pro-Housing Pittsburgh endorsed O'Connor this morning. It's interesting because they constantly deny the fact that they're lobbyists. It's almost like they've been lying to the public this entire time.

I think it's very concerning that a lot of the more vocal neo-YIMBYs do not publicly support social justice movements. You cannot build housing or support development broadly without considering the future tenants and their rights.

It's been rough in Pittsburgh after the storms the other night, but I want to thank @gaineyformayor.com not only for his quick response, but also for his commitment to keep our communities informed via email, social media, and press conferences as power is restored across the city!
