We took this handsome boy to the emergency vet yesterday because he had one pupil that was tiny and one that was normal. Turns out he just had a scratch on that eye, so the Cone of Shame and some antibiotic eye drops should do the trick.

I harvested my potatoes and garlic and onions today. Disappointing amounts all around, but better than nothing.

🧶 I found this cross-stitch project in a stack of hand me downs, complete except for the back stitching. I finished that, with the idea I'd then frame it and give it to my mother, but I can't figure out how to get this staining out. Any ideas?

When I planted this a few years ago, it had yellow flowers. As of last summer, it has yellow AND purple flowers, and I have no idea why. I definitely did not plant another one. 🌱

Violet is finally figuring out how to drink from the hose without waterboarding herself too badly! (She barks and insists she wants some while I'm trying to water my garden. Lab genes are strong.)

The baby chickens and Pencil had a field trip together yesterday. There was much caution on both sides, but I think it went pretty well.

I have one very small asparagus stalk! I planted a handful of these last spring and this is all I have so far. 🌱

I was assuming that everyone knew my baby chicks are in my spare living room and have been this entire time. Apparently not. Anyways, Applesauce is the first escapee.

Here are better pictures of (criss-cross) Applesauce's cross-beak. Hopefully it doesn't get any more severe, so that she stands a better chance at survival.

Lab genes are strong, apparently. Violet is also half Border Collie, but that's not very evident. I left the bathroom door ajar during my shower because I was home alone, and Yuma poked her nose in to say hi and then Violet actually hopped in and joined me for awhile.

Cuteness!!

I've been saving & reusing all of the plastic eggs my son's whole life & now have somewhere around 200 (haven't counted in a few years). Yesterday he had a friend over to work on a school project and I took the giant bag of them outside & hid them all so two 16 year old boys could have an egg hunt.

I took the day off work today and finally went to one of our lace guild retreats, at least 1 of the 3 days. I took a class and made this little bobbin lace butterfly, though I still need to finish off the antennae.

I've been keeping the small offcut squares from the little bags I've been making, and sewing them together and yesterday afternoon I started adding squares from my scrap basket to make bigger quilt block squares out of them. I'm not sure what's happening next, but it's been satisfying.

I came home to two duck eggs in the coop today! The days are definitely getting longer and heading towards spring.

That thing about herding dogs giving themselves jobs? Yup. Rocky has declared himself Keeper of the Schedule. And hilariously, he's been insisting that includes dog cookies and naps for each dog in their own crates after breakfast. And apparently lunchtime now too.

I've been out of town since Friday morning and thus mostly off-line and it was good.

Violet gets very demanding about wanting things. The growly noises here mean "play with me" and the bark is "pay attention!"

Quilty friends! I am back at the froggy throw project and need help! (I'm still a beginner) I've been just stitching along the seam lines and like the puffy look I'm getting, but am worried there may be technical reasons for filling in more? The squares are 4.5x4.5". Advice please?

It turns out tiny bags are sort of fun to make, and pretty quick, too.
