I've been thinking about this piece from 2020. How does it make me feel? It makes me sad, truly. My mental health has been awful for a while now, but I was making progress to help myself... up until recently. Masking is still a necessity, still my normal, and it brings me down.

Loved the game, loved the animation on Netflix, so I might actually give this a go. I haven't read a comic book in over two decades, and even then it was a rare occurrence.

Today, I am grateful for the internet and having access to information—specifically, comic book writing. Scriptwriting is quite different to what I am used to. The prologue for Paternal is outlined (including the panels), so I'm planning pages 7-11 (Chapter 1, Scene 1).

Writing a graphic novel script has been far more difficult than writing a story. So far, I have outlined my chapters and scenes (fairly superficially), and now it's time to do the bulk of the work. I have many ideas for visuals, panels, etc., but chopping things up will be difficult... and fun!

After a rather strange day of enduring some new medication side effects, I have (superficially) outlined five chapters of the Paternal project. A truly unexpected feat.

Since it's handy to know AND it weeds out the more bigoted folk, I'd like to state quite clearly that I am a gay man. That is all.

Forgive my silence, I have been making headway in planning a rather ambitious project. About 15 years ago, I fancied illustrating a story I had devised as a graphic novelette but felt I lacked the skills required. I am taking the plunge even with the lingering imposter syndrome.

This version of Roxanne adapted for Moulin Rouge still gives me goosebumps. His gruff and powerful voice contrasted with Ewan McGregor's voice does it for me. This scene makes my chest tight too. As a whole, it all works together so well.

After many months (most of the year even), I have reopened Scrivener. Time to write again, I'd say. Art still isn't happening, but at least I am doing SOMETHING creative again.

Ive had this sketch sitting around for ages, but kept hating it if I tried to take it further. I decided to just power through and finish it. It's nice to do something a bit simpler, now and then, and to actually remember that my characters are from a horribly neglected graphic novel project😬

When people started the Art vs. Artist meme, I didn't think I had any work worth using. I often dislike my work for whatever reason at the time, HOWEVER, I have in recent years begun to appreciate a handful of pieces. You can see 13 of my favourite pieces on my website.

Unfortunately, my mental health is kicking my arse in various ways, specifically where productivity is concerned. I haven't painted or written in quite some time. I don't see an immediate future where that'll change, but I must try and remain positive: it will change. I've just got to be patient.

Do you miss the sense of space optimism of past decades, when exploration wasn't hobbled by greed and antiintellectualism, or plans of space colonization tainted by influence of some of the vilest people alive? You're not alone. Keep chasing the stars.
