I can think of other fantasy series past and present where the romance is written just as well without consuming everything else in the story. I think romantasy has been something that allows lazy writing and even lazier romance with plots that aren't that interesting.

I'm so sick of seeing "romance" in books and it's typically just some straight couple lusting after each other for pages or they just fall in love with nothing that really shows it. Boring and uninspired

I keep thinking about the candle dance scene in Priory because it's so sweet and romantic without being heavy handed. If there's going to be romance I want it to be something that feels natural and doesn't overshadow the larger plot. It feels realistic

I also went to that puzzle swap afterwards at the library and it was fun! There were a lot of people there and it was very hard to choose only five puzzles to swap. I picked some familiars like Charles Wysocki but then some from companies I'd never heard of.
