A few weeks ago, foster puppy Rusty participated in our annual family tradition and did her first fun run with her foster brothers (well, really a walk, I was recovering from being very sick). Then we went to the main Petpalooza event! Rusty is still available for adoption through DogGone Seattle!

She has adapted to her new life as a conehead.

Rusty has found something to keep her entertained while she's on restricted duty.

Rusty is a wonderful puppy with lots of great qualities, but she also enjoys stealing my stuff. Today it's the broom, the other day she dragged our car wash brush all the way across the pasture. Though she did find a credit card I'd dropped and brought it to my husband, so she's helpful sometimes!

Go Dawgs! This really is the best time of the year to visit UW!

Rusty got a solo walk today and she had a lot of fun, but guys, look at how happy she was when she saw her foster brothers waiting for her in our yard. ❤️ Her whole demeanor changed, her tail went straight up, her ears lifted, and she practically started skipping; she loves her boys so, so much.

Foster puppy, Rusty, just heard it's Friday, y'all!

It's incredible to me that this is the same dog who originally laid down in my driveway, too petrified to leave our property. She's still a little nervous when we're out and about, and she gets overwhelmed sometimes, but she's made incredible progress!

Today is Odin's fourth birthday, we celebrated with frozen yogurt treats, a new Orca friend, and an edible birthday card!

Odin is Rusty's very best friend in the whole world. And he is extremely patient.

This happens like twelve times a day at my house. Erin: Rusty, do you want to go inside? Rusty: No, thank you.

We had a very big day going out and socializing, and now it's time to curl up with a good shoe. Rusty met so many new people and doggo friends. She even became besties with a Poodle/Bernese Mountain dog and they had the best time playing (even though Rusty was like a quarter of her size).

She may be small, but Rusty will still throw down with her foster brothers. I don't have any non-blurry photos of her trying to tackle them, but it is funny to watch her try to take 85-pound Odin down.

Rusty the foster puppy says she doesn't know anything about no mud puddle, she's just been laying outside like a good girl.

Rusty strongly objected to my plan for us to go out for socialization work (little did she know we were going to the pet store in town where they immediately greet us with "Hi Rusty!!!!" and give her all the pets and treats. They love her and then when we're there, she never wants to leave).

Rusty likes to steal stuff from the house and around the property and bring it to this one very specific part of the pasture (not pictured: a stuffed animal that Ranger confiscated).

I accept that I probably bear some responsibility in this situation for leaving the bucket of treats on the crate.

Rusty the foster puppy is so smart! Ranger and Odin have to stay on their beds while I get their food ready, until I set it down and tell them "break". It took maybe three days of seeing this routine before Rusty started mimicking them and waiting on the rug near them, I don't even tell her to.

This is Rusty's "pleeeaaase don't make me go inside" pose. As soon as she realizes I'm going to make her go in, she runs over to the bark and lays down, usually under a plant I assume she thinks the blueberry plants will hide her?

Rusty likes having brothers! She has a brother who's in another foster home and here she has two foster brothers she loves!

The sun is back (for now)! Rusty, the foster puppy, is very happy to have a sunshiny day again.

Rusty, you have an army of toys, do you really need my boot too? Though to be fair, it does have fake fur on it.

Rusty the foster puppy is settling in, today she has been enjoying playing with stuffed animals and digging holes in my gardens and laying in them.

Little Miss is learning that it's okay to be indoors. She's the only foster I've ever had who was terrified to go inside when we first got here.

Early morning start out here, though that's usually the case with foster puppies, especially when they're young. Foster puppy, Rusty, is still exploring and has found the strawberry garden and the netting we use to keep the local fat raccoon from eating all of our strawberries.

More adventures from foster puppy Rusty. So far, things she likes: -Being outdoors -Exploring -Our giant outdoor doghouse that our dogs never use -Chewing on the bark we just put down in the spring -Her foster dad (much more so than she likes me 😭) And she just discovered the fish pond...

We took a long break from fostering, but we're starting up again. Meet Rusty, she's about four months old and just arrived from Texas with her brother Coal. She's so sweet, a little nervous, but she's loving exploring our yard so far! I'll keep you posted as we learn more about her!
