"Conventional techniques restrict molecular profiling to pre-selected 2D sections, losing systemic context and introducing anatomical bias by sampling less than 0.001% of a whole organism. To overcome these challenges, we developed DISCO-seq"

DISCO-seq: 3D single-cell transcriptomics of intact biological systems
Single-cell transcriptomics has transformed tissue analysis, yet current methods struggle to integrate whole-tissue 3D architecture. Conventional techniques restrict molecular profiling to pre-selecte...

Thrilled to share our work on DISCO-seq, which combines RNA-preserving tissue clearing with whole-organ 3D imaging to enable anatomically unbiased single-cell transcriptomics, with applications in cancer and infection biology.

As of today, the main finding of my PhD is published in the European Journal for Neuroscience! π₯³π₯³ Together with Gesine MΓΌller, we looked at hemispheric asymmetries in the mouse auditory cortex. We find layer, sex, and hemispheric differences:

Hemispheric Asymmetry of Intracortical Myelin Orientation in the Mouse Auditory Cortex
We find that the right and left auditory cortex in mice are both organised in cortical columns, with asymmetric myelination in the different layers and differences between the sexes. In addition, the...

Our new study shows that SARS-CoV-2 spike protein accumulates & persists in the body for years after infection, especially in the skull-meninges-brain axis, potentially driving long COVID. mRNA vaccines help but cannot stop itπ¬π§ π¦ π§΅Your weekend readπ
