My thesis is that as athletes get more athletic and as more teams in the league are filled with such athletes, defending and thwarting attacks gets easier. It’s easier to block an attack with athleticism and teamwork than it is to construct one with skill. Eventually scoring goes down.

The funny thing is set pieces are more of an equalizer of talent. Scoring from set pieces doesn’t just depend on high level talent that only the top teams can afford to recruit. It’s a stationary situation, you can prepare, practice, set up and execute. Smaller teams can narrow the gap this way

What is this issue people have with teams scoring set piece goals? You are getting more goals. Isn’t that the point of football? It’s not like players are solely aiming to kick it off a player to earn a corner. In fact, before this whole discourse, every attacker was praised for ‘winning corners’

He’s awful. He just talks about what he wants to happen rather than what has actually happened. Saw a ghost foul on the keeper on our 2nd goal and said their injury time disallowed goal was onside when he was about 5 yards off. He should stop hallucinating.
