Last sessions for this years conference have started. In the Talbot room @samuelfinnerty.bsky.social starts off the Climate Activism session outlining identity and ethical tensions among environmentally engaged scientists in climate advocacy

Now for a special session discussing Social Identity Theory 50 years later. Steve Reicher highlights the importance of adapting the theory to the rapidly changing political climate. We need only look to activism of the past to see how social identity has the power to enact social change.

Huge congratulations to professor Stephen Gibson for winning the 2025 mid-career award! Stephen's keynote is dedicated to his research on respecifying the Milgram obedience experiments. By using discursive and rhetorical psychology, we can view the Milgram experiments and social accomplishments.

In the session Decolonization and status quo Leyla De Amicis is presenting her project Decolonizing ourselves - funded by the BPS Social Psychology Section through pump-priming (this is an annual funding opportunity for our members to help them with starting up, pilot study etc)

Really enjoyed taking part in the panel discussion earlier today on Feminist Metascience at #Metascience2025! In the panel I spoke about epistemic diversity and intellectual humility. We need to be considering voices that are quieter in these discussions- it shouldn’t be a battle to be heard here.
