This is nothing more than a grift. The United States could purchase rare earth metals like any other consumer of products in the world. However it wants a "deal" to pay back its inept efforts to develop a peace deal as well as for the weapons Ukraine needed.

I hope that the value and importance of NATO is not dependent on one member. It would be disappointing if the US choose to be an obstacle to NATO's functioning but NATO can continue. Having the biggest military does not equate to being a great leader - just the one that can do the most damage.

Russia saying it used a "nuclear capable" missile is a weak attempt to grab a headline and make Western leaders shake in fear. The EU/NATO needs to recognize its resources, history and power. Being an ally to the United States as it currently stands is not an advantage in the war.

This commitment by France and UK seems dubious. The troops are not available until there is a ceasefire and Russia has refused to have a ceasefire. So it's a commitment without any serious effort needed.

There is video of the shooting of a woman by ICE in Minneapolis circulating that shows an ICE agent repeatedly shooting her at point blank range while she tries to drive off. There was no obvious threat to any ICE agent.

NATO countries including Canada were there for the United States on 9/11. We were there without hesitation. This might be yet another indication that Trump's brain is mush or just that other NATO countries are not appreciated for their many contributions to a safer world.
