We very quickly get more anachronism. It’s hard to explain how ridix it is to think that firearms were primarily viewed or used as personal self-defense weapons at the founding. Most weren’t efficient or reliable enough for that purpose until long after.

Quite the declaration by Alito in today's Wolford v. Lopez decision striking down Hawaii's gun carrying law: "This regime hobbles what the Second Amendment protects: the right of Americans to carry arms for self-defense as they go about their daily lives. We hold that the law is unconstitutional."

Today in America, a gunman attacked a university in Virginia and another gunman attacked a synagogue in Michigan. Both gunmen are dead, but communities will long be impacted Infuriating that our country refuses to take action to protect our schools & houses of worship.

Relieved to hear that no one appears to have been hurt in the attack at Michigan Synagogue. Sheriff Bouchard says synagogue security engaged the attacker in gunfire, who fled & not in custody.

Take Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" for instance. Republicans provided $150 billion more for the military, while at the same time taking food away from literal children and kicking 10 million people off their health insurance. That was a choice. They prioritized war at the expense of food and health.

Some of the biggest conservative voices for crim legal reform are conservatives who have been to prison. Not just bc it made them see how bad our prisons are (tho they mostly went to lower-level facilities), but bc it forced them to see that most ppl there were not monsters, not diff from them.

Gov. Spanberger calls out the cruelty of Trump's ICE: "Every minute spent sowing fear is a minute not spent investigating murders, crimes against children, or the criminals defrauding seniors of their life savings."

When immigrants fear local police, crimes go unreported. Survivors stay silent. Communities become less safe—not more. Trump's attempts to scapegoat immigrant communities is not new. And it is dangerous. It divides neighbors and distracts from real solutions that actually make communities safer.

Trump takes credit for lower crime rates in Washington, DC after sending federal troops last year. Fact check: Since peaking in 2023, D.C. violent crime fell in 2024, before Trump took office, and has continued to fall at similar rates before and after federal intervention.
