In 1970, students in a fifth-grade class at Hawthorne School in Beverly Hills were assigned to write a letter to someone they admired, asking them “What makes a good citizen?" So 10yr old Joel Lipton wrote to Peanuts cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. Joel got a reply.

The Artemis II mission seems good because it is. People seem excited by it because they are. It looks like a testament to the value of teamwork because it needs many people working together to succeed, and it’s succeeding. One of the best things about this is how straightforward it is. Authentic.

What historians do is important. We aren't data-miners (although we do do that too). We are the ones who analyse the data, contextualise it, and give it meaning. We spend years learning about our given period so when a new puzzle piece is unearthed we can see where it fits.
